We received a great amount of amazing fiction from authors all over the world and we are so humbled. If you have submitted a story and you are waiting to hear from us please, hold on! There is a lot of work behind this project and only a few overworked brains, but lots and lots of love for what we do. Bear with us, you won’t regret it.
Thank you for believing in stories.
If you are thinking of submitting your story at the next call for submissions, you can start by having a look at the guidelines below and reading our back issue for free.
Breve New Stories publishes one short story and one flash fiction in every issue, from new or emerging authors.
We look for literary short fiction, for stories that have the power of condensing numbers of possibilities in the space of a few pages, fiction that speaks to real life and crucial, life-changing literary moments.
Breve welcomes and encourages diversity and it’s interested in beautifully written, carefully constructed and hard to forget short prose, regardless of the genre.
Submissions should be in English, original and unpublished.
Short Stories must be between 1,500 and 5,000 words, Flash Fiction up to 600 words.
Email your stories as .doc, .pdf, .odt files at firstname.lastname@example.org including your contact details and a brief bio/cv/publication history.
Authors can submitt a maximum of two pieces at a time (can be two short stories, two flash fictions or one of each) and only once in the submission opening time. There is no submission fee but note that at this stage we are not able to pay our contributors. Response times varies from four to twelve weeks. Due to the large amount of submissions and the fact we are a small team we regret we are not able to comment individual stories.
